The Logan Square Rhythm
There’s something about Logan Square that makes gathering over food feel natural. It’s a neighborhood of busy sidewalks, independent businesses, music, art, and people coming and going throughout the day, and Sultan’s fits right into that rhythm.
Located on California Avenue, directly across from the California Blue Line station, our Logan Square restaurant is an easy stop for lunch, dinner, takeout, or a meal with friends before heading deeper into the neighborhood.
Inside, things stay simple: order what sounds good, find a seat, and enjoy. Falafel comes out hot and crispy, Shawarma roasts throughout the day, and the counter is filled with the Middle Eastern favorites that have been part of the Sultan’s story for more than three decades.
Chicago’s Favorites
Our Place in Logan Square
Long before Logan Square became known for its restaurants, music, and creative culture, the neighborhood was shaped by Chicago’s historic boulevard system. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, immigrant communities helped build a district of broad, tree-lined streets, greystones, churches, businesses, and homes that still give Logan Square much of its character today.
At the center of the neighborhood stands the Illinois Centennial Monument, one of Logan Square’s most recognizable landmarks. Designed by architect Henry Bacon, who also designed the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., the monument rises above the intersection of Kedzie Avenue, Logan Boulevard, and Milwaukee Avenue, connecting the neighborhood’s present-day energy with its historic roots.
That connection between old and new can be felt throughout Logan Square. The Logan Theatre, a neighborhood landmark dating to the early 20th century, continues to bring people together for movies and entertainment, while nearby independent restaurants, shops, music venues, and creative spaces have helped make the area one of Chicago’s most distinctive cultural neighborhoods.
The community continues to gather in new ways, too. The Logan Square Farmers Market brings local growers, makers, neighbors, and visitors together around food, another reflection of a neighborhood where what you eat and where it comes from matter.
Sultan’s Market is proud to be part of that everyday Logan Square story. From our place on California Avenue, we get to serve a neighborhood that appreciates good food without a lot of fuss—fresh Falafel, Shawarma, Hummus, soups, salads, and familiar Middle Eastern favorites made for the people who live, work, create, and gather here.
